Exposure and physical vulnerability indicators to assess seismic risk in urban areas: a step towards a multi-hazard risk analysis

Understanding the impacts of multi-hazard risk in urban areas is a fundamental step towards adoption resilience-enhancement and disaster prevention strategies, underpinning institutional adjustments aimed at improving capacity authorities stakeholders to manage risk. Within this framework, work presented paper seeks identify analyze set exposure buildings’ physical vulnerability indicators be used as input parametric-based seismic assessment methodology for unreinforced masonry (URM) building stock Lisbon Metropolitan Area (LMA). For approach, data from 2011 Census survey are define parameters describing building’s characterise level study area. These results then combined with hazard component into GIS tool. Seismic URM LMA, more detailed analysis conducted Setúbal municipality. Finally, outputs briefly discussed. Ultimately, understanding impact extent multi-hazards can help prioritize resilience-increasing actions measures mitigate natural hazards.
